In connection with Dr. William R. Ferris’s Southern Music Class, CSAS proudly presents

SOUTHERN JOURNEY, a series of noon interviews and performances featuring:

John Clark of The Hot Nuts (Interview): the classic college-circuit rhythm & blues band started in 1955 in Chapel Hill.

Jim Mills (Performance): Grammy Award-winning bluegrass banjo player, formerly with Ricky Skaggs, Dolly Parton and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver.

Alfred “Uganda” Roberts (Performance): legendary New Orleans percussionist formerly with Professor Longhair and Dr. John.

Sponsored by the Center for the Study of the American South, the Southern Folklife Collection, the American Studies Department, and the History Department.
