Music on the Porch

Music on the Porch celebrates the best of Southern music, from bluegrass and gospel to hip hop and global fusion. Here on the university’s front porch, we host up-and-coming musicians who honor, explore, and challenge southern musical traditions. Past performers have included UNC’s own “renegade traditionalists” from Mipso, a millennial Muslim rapper from Memphis, the Mount Olive jazz band, and world-renowned instrumentalists on banjo, violin, congas, charango, and sarod.

Join us on the Love House lawn on fall and spring Thursday evenings to enjoy these fun, free, family-friendly concerts for music lovers of all ages. Our porch is covered, so the show will go on (and we’ll have space for you) rain or shine. Picnic blankets, folding chairs, and whatever you’re snacking on are all welcome and encouraged.

Parking is available on campus on night and weekends (please check signs, payment is available via kiosks in lots or using the Park Mobile App). Our Center is also located along the (free) CL, D, and F bus routes of Chapel Hill Transit.
