Music on the Porch: ZOOCRÜ
Music on the Porch returns on March 28th! Mark your calendars and shake out your picnic blankets! Our opening act for Spring 2019 is a local band with a global message.
ZOOCRÜ formed amidst the thriving music and arts community of Durham, North Carolina. Common interests and experiences brought together founding members Jonathan Curry (drums), Christian Sharp (bass) and Alan Thompson (vocals) on the campus of North Carolina Central University for early collaborations that laid the foundations for the group. Russell Favret (guitar) joined the band in 2014.
ZOOCRÜ creates from the core belief that all American music is born from the seeds of Black music. Jazz serves as the foundation, with added elements of hip hop, blues, rock, and gospel. ZOOCRÜ aims to create sounds that heal the broken, tunes to honor the fallen, and sonic space for all in the Crü World Order.
Since this show is scheduled for March in Chapel Hill, we’ll start off with a tribute to March Madness by the UNC Pep Band, a small but talented sampling of our Marching Tar Heels. Hark the sound!
This event is free and open to the public, and parking is free after 5:00 pm in the Park Place parking lot. The Center is also located along free Chapel Hill Transit bus routes A, CL, D, F, NU, and U. Bring a picnic blanket and stay for a while!
