THE SOUTHERN MUSIC CONCERT SERIES

From blues to bluegrass and hip hop to ballads, the South has been fertile ground for some of the world’s best-loved music.  This fall, the Center for the Study of the American South is partnering with units at Carolina to present three special concerts showcasing some of the rich variety of Southern music.  The Southern Music Concert Series is an outgrowth of Bill Ferris’s popular Southern Music course.  Performances this fall will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Pleasants Family Assembly Room of Wilson Library—the perfect venue, since Wilson is the home of the Southern Folklife Collection, with its exceptional archives on Southern music and culture.
