Education & Resegregation Town Hall

April 19, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

How much racial progress has been achieved in America since 1955, when the U.S. Supreme Court ordered all 50 states to desegregate public schools “with all deliberate speed”? How should we understand troubling trends toward resegregation in southern public schools? What local factors affect these trends in particular schools, districts, and regions? How do “school choice” and charter schools affect the larger situation? Join us at the Friday Center at 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 19 for a town hall titled All Deliberate Speed? School Resegregation in the South. For more information about the panelists and moderator, please click here.

This event is free and open to the public, and parking is free after 5:00 pm at the Friday Center parking lot. A public Q&A session will follow the panel discussion. Special thanks to our co-sponsors: UNC School of Education, the Friday Center for Continuing Education, and UNC Press.
