2012 Global American South Symposium

The Global American South Symposium, “The Changing Face of the American South: Demographic Shifts and Migrations,” a collaboration between the Center for Global Initiatives, the Global Research Institute, and the Center for the Study of the American South explores the globalization of the Southern United States and will reveal the interplay of the global and the local, not simply of the impacts from economic globalization down to the Southern regional and local levels, but also of the often surprising ways that local culture and experience influence distant communities and regions.  It will bring together academics, policy makers, musicians, artists, and practitioners from North Carolina, the southern region, and beyond. The symposium is free with registration.
