The Center would like to invite you to a very special event on April 6th. Please join us for an evening of bbq and conversation with this year’s Charleston Lecturer, Southern Foodways Alliancedirector and New York Times columnist John T. Edge.  John T. Edge will be joined by chefs Ben & Karen Barker of Magnolia GrillSheri Castle, Whitney Brown of Scratch Bakery, Rodney Scott of Scott’s Variety Store and Bar-B-Q in Hemingway, S.C., April McGreger of The Farmer’s Daughter, Sam Suchoff of The Pig, Bill Smith of Crooks Corner and others.

 

This very special bbq benefit dinner is cooked and seasoned by an incredible group of local chefs, who will put their personal spins on traditional sides. They will be joined by pit master Rodney Scott of Hemingway, S.C., who is profiled in this New York Times article.

 

This is an event to celebrate the food of the south, the chefs who cook it and the people who eat it! 

 

Tickets for the dinner are limited to 50 people due to space constraints, so please reserve your space early.    

Location: 3 Cups – Wine, Coffee and Tea Merchants

Cost: $125 per person

Time: Festivities get underway at 7:30 with drinks and music.  Dinner begins at 8:00.

All proceeds go to benefit the programming at the Center for the Study of the American South at UNC-Chapel Hill.
