2nd Wednesday of each month, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

The Center for the Study of the American South, at Love House, is excited to share a new initiative that we have launched, called Thinking South: Brown Bag Lunch Gatherings.

During Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 we will gather on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for informal, engaging lunchtime conversations. These recurring sessions are a generative space for faculty, students, and community members to share ideas, papers, reflections, and discussions centered on topics related to the South.

OUR NEXT GATHERING – NOV. 13  WITH DR. SIMON FISHER

Dr. Simon Fisher

Our next gathering is November 13th with Simon Fisher on “Intersections in Motion: Historicizing Pauli Murray in and through Trans Studies”.

The Hidden Voices project “To Buy the Sun: The Challenge of Pauli Murray” highlights the story of this fearless civil rights pioneer who defied oppression by refusing to sit at the back of a bus nearly a decade before Rosa Parks took her historic stand. We can’t wait to hear Dr. Simon Fisher discuss “Intersections in Motion: Historicizing Pauli Murray in and Through Trans Studies”!
