The Center for the Study of the American South’s second Music on the Porch of the semester happens April 15 from 5 to 7 pm.  Join Catherine Edgerton and Kym Register of Midtown Dickens, Shirle’ Hale of Free Electric State, and Pierce Freelon of The Beast as Music on the Porch continues to explore the connections between place, space and songwriting in the south.  This Music on the Porch will be emceed by none other than Glenn Boothe of the Local 506.  Catherine Edgerton and Kym Register bring an earnest, clever exploration of “folk” music to the porch, Pierce Freelon of the Beast tells it like it is with words, beat, rhythm and rhyme, and the catchy rock based gems of Shirle’ Hale compliment her strikingly beautiful lyrics and voice.

The goal of Music on the Porch is to bring together local and not-so local musicians and an audience for evenings of conversation and performances that explore the relationship between music and the sense of place that defines the South.  Bring a picnic and join us on the lawn from 5 to 7 pm for an great evening of conversation and music.  The Center for the Study of the American South is located here.  Please be advised that parking is limited in the immediate vincinity.  The closest public parking is Rosemary Street parking deck.  FREE and open to the public.
